Traco’s display is built for today’s roads and provides a smarter way to manage temporary traffic, says Johannes Müller, Sales Manager Saferoad Traffic in Germany.
What is Traco: a complete, pre‑assembled solution
Traco arrives as a ready‑to‑deploy system that includes the RGB LED variable message sign, a robust steel flat foundation with mounting device, a telescopic spindle mast, and an integrated energy system with photovoltaics and control unit. No on‑site wiring is required.
The standard Traco Sign 20 features a 64 × 80 pixel matrix with a 20 mm pixel pitch and an active display area of 1,280 × 1,600 mm, rendering characters, symbols and animations with clarity. Additional sizes (such as Traco Sign 12/16) are available to match specific applications.
Rapid setup and lean logistics
Since TRACO arrives pre-assembled, crews go from delivery to live operation in 10–15 minutes—no on-site wiring, just fast, safe deployment, Johannes Müller adds.
Designed for speed and safety, Traco installs with a two‑person crew: one crane operator and one assistant. The telescopic spindle mast extends and retracts using a cordless screwdriver, so a single operator can fine‑tune ground clearance and viewing height.
A space‑saving transport position allows up to 11 systems to ride on a 13.2 m, 24‑ton semi‑trailer, while integrated forklift pockets simplify handling and storage. In transport mode, the unit measures approximately 2.40 × 1.00 × 2.36 m and weighs about 1.7 tons.

Clear visibility, smart power, dependable by design
Traco’s display is built for today’s roads. A flicker‑free refresh over 1000 Hz ensures razor‑sharp readability for drivers and modern driver‑assistance cameras, and automatic brightness control adjusts continuously from 1–100 percent to match ambient light.
The dedicated PowerPack – available in 4000L or 5000L configurations with 160 Ah energy storage – works with high‑efficiency solar modules to deliver self‑sufficient operation. The solar lift offers 360‑degree rotation with 45‑degree locking to optimize panel alignment and energy yield. Sensitive components and cabling are protected inside the mast, and the foundation’s mounting system withstands wind loads of 1.2 kN/m².
For advanced deployments, Traco can be expanded with Traco Sensor Radar, Cam and Radio (CB warning transmitter), and content can be programmed remotely via Safetrax Control. Optional TL pre‑warning flashers are available with BASt approvals V3‑25‑2014 (WL7) and V3‑24‑2014 (WL5). Standard configurations are available from stock, while custom builds are produced to order.
