In light of the escalating war several of our companies in Poland and Romania, neighbouring Ukraine, have initiated humanitarian support locally. Such as accommodation, food, first aid equipment and donations to local humanitarian organisations. We support these initiatives and continue to follow up and see if there are more that can be done locally.
We also want to give our support to those who are still in Ukraine, who are facing shortages of food, clothing, and shelter. Our donation will be given to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to support the continuous humanitarian effort they provide.
With teams across Ukraine and in neighbouring countries hosting refugees from Ukraine, UNHCR is providing protection and humanitarian assistance, including emergency shelters, repairs for homes damaged by shelling, emergency cash assistance, and protection such as psychological support. Winter relief is also provided for displaced people in need as temperatures plummet, such as high thermal blankets.
“Compassion and solidarity are the mainstay of a time like this, and it is heartwarming to see our colleagues and their families coming together to offer help to those who have had to flee the war. It clearly shows that it is important to stand together for the peoples of Ukraine in these difficult times.
I would like to thank all our colleagues, and in particular those in Ukraine's neighbouring countries, for the assistance they are now providing”, says Oscar Sandell, Chief Human Resources Officer in Saferoad Group.
